And even though this is a middle grades novel, I don’t think you have to wrap everything up in a pretty bow at the end for it to go over well with younger readers, 3.5 stars: I just love Lauren Wolk! In this book in particular, I wish I knew Ellie or was Ellie. My only critique of the audio book version of Echo Mountain is the narrator used a voice for the younger brother which could be described as whiny, this sniveling tone grated on my ears.
